Champy's Famous Fried Chicken is a Southern-style fried chicken restaurant chain with seven locations in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia. Seth and Crissy Champion, Champy's owners, brought their family's recipe all the way from the Mississippi Delta region to create Champy's menu.[1] The restaurant's motto, "Blues, Brews, and Bird," is brought to life in each location by Champy's unique decor.

Fare

Aside from their chicken, Champy's menu also features shrimp and farm-raised catfish. Champy's side items are Southern favorites. The menu selection varies by location, and is determined by the popularity of dishes at each location. Champy's menu of appetizers, salads, snacks, plates and meals is diverse, with many dishes from which to choose.

Reviews

A review in The Chatter, a Chattanooga, Tennessee magazine, said that Champy's offers great food, which has customers “lining up for it."[2]

Garden & Gun said Champy's fried chicken is authentic to the Mississippi Delta region, adding it is "hand breaded, with just enough grease and a hint of peppery hotness, it’s fried gold."[3]

The writer for another local paper, The Nooga, said the service and atmosphere of the restaurant impresses, and the flavoring of the food is sensational. But he was disappointed by the dining experience, judging the experience to be “subpar at best, and the melted Styrofoam really left a bad taste in my mouth.”[4]

Locations

After Champy's initial success in Chattanooga, the owners expanded the chain to locations in Alabama. Their first Alabama location was in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, followed by locations in Daphne, Alabama and Alabaster, Alabama.
