The school was originally named Bethalto High School; the name changed to Civic Memorial when Civic Memorial Airport (now [[St. Louis Regional Airport]]) opened in 1964. The first graduating class was that of 1951. Civic Memorial moved into its present building at 200 School Street for the 1979-1980 school year.

Civic Memorial High School, is a high school for 9th to 12th grade students located in Bethalto, Illinois. It serves students from Bethalto, Meadowbrook, Cottage Hills, and parts of Rosewood Heights and Moro (Moro proper attends Edwardsville High School as a result of a vote in the early 1950s).
