Daniel James Seavey (born April 2, 1999) is an American singer from Vancouver, Washington, in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. He finished in ninth place on the fourteenth season of American Idol.[1]

Life and career

Early life

Seavey was born in Portland, Oregon to Jeff and Keri Seavey. His father is a lead teaching pastor at Living Water Community Church. Daniel was raised along with his two older brothers, Tyler and Christian, and his younger sister, Anna.[2] Seavey is currently a junior at Union High School in Camas, Washington. He resides in Vancouver, Washington, with his family. [3]

American Idol

Seavey sang Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" & Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" during his audition in San Francisco. During the Hollywood Rounds, he sang Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" in his first solo performance, and "I See Fire", also sung by Sheeran, in his final solo performance. He performed "Straight Up" once again in the House of Blues, earning his spot in the top 24. Seavey, 15, advanced the furthest of anyone his age in the show's history.

On May 13, Seavey performed on the American Idol Finale with New Kids on The Block.
