David Smolansky is a Venezuelan politician, social communicator,[1] and the mayor of the municipality of El Hatillo.

Life

David Smolansky is a descendant of two generations that left countries that became communist states; his grandparents left the Soviet Union and went to Cuba; his father left Cuba and went to Venezuela. He has lived in El Hatillo since he was 8 years old.[2]

Education

Smolansky graduated from the Andrés Bello Catholic University and received a diploma from the Global Competitiveness Leadership Program at Georgetown University.[2]

Political life

Smolansky is part of the generation of young people that took an important role around the elections of the Constitutional Reform. His political career began when he joined the Communications Team with the Democratic Unity Roundtable.[2] He belongs to the Popular Will Party, created by Leopoldo López. On December 8, 2013, he was elected mayor of the municipality of El Hatillo.[3]
