Diagolon refers to a proposed nation and the far-right group who proposed it, formed in Ottawa during the Canada convoy protests of COVID-19 restrictions and mandates.[1][2]

Organisation

Diagolon is a group with over 100 members.[3][4][5] The group has found support online.[6] Diagolon was described in a report by the House of Commons of Canada as a "violent extremist organisation".[7]

Aims

The fictitious Diagolon nation promoted by the group runs from Alaska to Florida,[8][9] and the group advocates forming a new country through separatist violent measures[10] "unencumbered by the sinister burdens of communism, moral degeneracy".[11][12] Their goals consist of using violence to take power and strip rights away from people who do not meet their purity tests based on ideology, race, and gender.[13][14] Their motto is “gun or rope".[13]

Incidents

Diagolon's founder Jeremy MacKenzie is facing charges after allegedly brandishing a firearm while in a Nova Scotia business.[15][16][17]

Following the seizure of weapons, ammunition and body armour from Anthony Olienick's property during the Canada Convoy protest blockade of the Sweetgrass–Coutts Border Crossing, one piece of body armour was identified to have Diagolon patches.[18][19]

Randy Alexander Hillier, a Canadian born politician who served as a member of provincial parliament (MPP) went camping with people who displayed a Diagolon flag.[20][21][22]
