"Dream Girls" is a song performed by South Korean girl group project I.O.I. It was released on May 4, 2016 as the official single from the group's first extended play Chrysalis by YMC Entertainment.

Composition

"Dream Girls" was described as trap pop dance track co-written by famous producer Famousbro and composer Paul with rap lyrics written by Lim Na Young and Choi Yoo Jung. Lyrically, the song tells an encouraging message of going towards your dream and not giving up.[1]

Music Video

The music video was released on May 3, 2016.[2] The music video narrates a different story for each member of I.O.I in wich they pursue a different dream, showing their effort to achieve it.. The choreography for the song was created by Bae Yoon Jung, one of the mentors of Produce 101.

Chart Performance

"Dream Girls" entered at number 9 on the South Korean Gaon Digital Chart, on the week ending May 7, 2016.[3] On the following week ending May 14, 2016, the song peaked at number 7,[4] staying within the top 10 in its second week. On the week ending May 21, the song fell six places, charting at number 13, the lowest rank since debut.[5]

On the South Korean Gaon Download Chart, the song entered at number 8 with 142,106 downloads sales in its first week.[6] On the following week, the song peaked at number 7 with 81,376 downloads sales.[7] In its third week, the song fell to number 11 with 57,880 downloads sales, the lowest rank since debut.[8]

On the South Korean Gaon Streaming Chart, the song entered at number 31 with 1,741,763 streams in its first week.[9] On the following week, the song peaked at number 12 with 2,453,059 streams, entering the top 20 in its second week. In its third week, the song stayed at number 12 with 2,473,640 streams.[10]
