Electronic Power of Attorney refers to the provision of power of attorney or other proxy legal powers by online application.

In Portuguese law, Electronic Power of Attorney allows someone to provide a proxy or a civil representative with the necessary powers, granted by electronic means and using the technology in place and the Cartão de Cidadão (literally Citizen's Card). This power of attorney has the same legal value as the traditional paper power of attorney and is duly hand-signed.[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Brazil has a similar recognition of Electronic Power of Attorney to Portugal. [7]

As of January 2012, the Office of the Public Guardian is testing an online process for registering power of attorney. [8]
