Elle McLemore (born September 16, 1991) is an American actress. She originated the roles of Eva in the Tony nominated Broadway musical production Bring It On and Heather McNamara in Heathers, the musical adaption of the cult classic film of the same name. She also starred in the final season of the television series Army Wives. In 2016, she played Patty Simcox in FOX's TV special Grease: Live.
Life and career
Elle McLemore was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Gail VanDervoort, a dancer and father Todd Vandervoort, a pyrotechnician. She grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1] She has a sister Brittany.[2] She has Irish and Japanese roots.[3] At age four, she toured for 18 months with her family for the Melinda: First Lady of Magic show. Her mother danced on the show and was the magician's assistant while her father did pyrotechnics.[4][5] She attended Palo Verde High School, where she performed in the school productions Grease, and Peter Pan and in the benefit concert God Lives in Glass.[1] She graduated in 2009 and moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.[4]
McLemore booked the role as "Gina" in The Suite Life on Deck and "Denise" on ABC's The Middle. She then starred alongside Dean Cain in At the Top of the Pyramid. She auditioned for the musical production Bring It On, based on the movie of the same name, and was cast as the principal role of the "pint sized villain", Eva.[4] The musical started its national tour on October 30, 2011.[6] She then starred in the role on Broadway from July to December 2012.[7] She landed the regular role of Holly Truman for the seventh and final season of Army Wives.[8]
In September 2013, McLemore played Heather McNamara in the LA premiere of the musical Heathers.[9] In February 2014, McLemore was set to reprise her role in the Off-Broadway premiere of the show. The show began previews on March 15, 2014 with an official opening of March 31, 2014.[10] McLemore played Heather McNamara in Heathers at New World Stages, which closed on August 4, 2014.
McLemore played the role of "Patty Simcox" in Grease: Live, airing on Fox television on January 31, 2016.
