Erik Swoope (born May 8, 1992)[1] is an American football tight end for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL).

High school & college

Swoope did not play football in high school nor in college. He was a basketball player for Harvard-Westlake High School for 4 years, and in his senior year he averaged 21.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game.[2] He played college basketball for the University of Miami and played in 110 games, scoring 291 career points, 186 rebounds, 37 steals, 31 assists and 25 blocks.[2]

Professional career

Swoope was not selected in the 2014 NFL Draft. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts on May 11, 2014.[3] and was waived on August 30.[2] The Colts signed Swoope to their practice squad on September 1, and on January 19, 2015, signed a reserve/future contract to remain with the Colts.[2] Swoope was waived by the Colts on September 5, and signed to the practice squad the next day.[4] On December 30, 2015, Swoope was elevated to the active roster for the first time, after Dwayne Allen was placed on injured reserve.[5] He was active for the Colts' 30–24 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 17, but did not record a catch.
