The exbibyte is a multiple of the unit byte for digital information . It is a member of the set of units with binary prefixes defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Its unit symbol is EiB .
The prefix exbi (symbol Ei ) represents multiplication by 10246 , therefore:
1 exbibyte = 260 bytes = 1152 921 504 606 846 976 bytes = 1024 pebibytes
The exbibyte is closely related to the exabyte (EB) , the corresponding unit in the decimal system of multiples, which is defined as 1018 bytes = 1000 000 000 000 000 000 bytes . 1 EiB ≈ 1.15 EB.
