Father Brown, Detective is a 1934 American mystery film directed by Edward Sedgwick and starring Walter Connolly, Paul Lukas and Gertrude Michael.[1] It is based on the Father Brown story "The Blue Cross" by G.K. Chesterton.

The picture was essentially[weasel words] remade in 1954 as Father Brown[citation needed] with Alec Guinness and Peter Finch, inasmuch as it too was based on "The Blue Cross".[original research?]
