Calculations are based on ball radius 4.25", pin radius 2.375", pin 10 being centered 18 inches from center of lane and (41.5/2)-18 = 2.75" from edge of lane:
4.25 + 2.375 + 2.75 = 9.375" range of success
FYI: board width = 41.5" lane width divided by 39 boards = 1.0641" per board
Diagram purposely ignores possibility of hitting the 10-pin if ball is just falling into gutter because its trajectory after leaving the lane surface is speculative. It is extremely unlikely that the ball will take a very small slice of the 10-pin during its fall into the gutter, since the ball will be approaching the pin within about 3° of "head on" and would either (1) take a fairly big slice of the pin (almost as much as the "right" ball pictured above), or (2) fall into the gutter missing the pin altogether.
