DescriptionAbove the Sentinel Hotel entrance, detail with Elks Temple signage (2015).jpg
The entablature above the entrance to the Sentinel Hotel, in Portland, Oregon, in 2015. The 1923 building facing SW 11th Avenue was originally the Elks Temple, and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places under that name. In the mid-1980s, it became the Princeton Building and the "Elks Temple" signage shown here was covered up by a "Princeton" sign (made in the same style), which remained on the façade until 2014. New owners removed the "Princeton" signage, thereby restoring the original "Elks Temple" letering.
