Summary

Description
English: Air speed record course. On 7 November 1945 Group Captain H J Wilson set a new world air speed record of 606mph between Reculver and Herne Bay pier in a Gloster Meteor. This photograph was taken as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations and shows the record-breaking pilot's son being interviewed for television against a backdrop of the course. Unfortunately the weather was too poor to stage the planned re-enactment.
