Description

Amanita pekeoides G. S. Ridl.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Observation Notes: This Amanita species belongs in section Vaginatae, it is an unusual species that lacks a partial veil, also the lamellae have a distinctive dark margin, it is commonly known as Socked flycap.
Sometimes the universal veil tears apart and leaves membranous fragments on the pileus, there is also a white form of this species!
