English: Apollo 11 landing site, Mare Tranquillitatis, on the moon. Lunar Orbiter 5 image used in mission planning. The image is centered precisely on a small crater called West Crater (IAU link) (185 m in diameter), and the lunar module Eagle touched down about 550 m west of West Crater. The large irregular depression at the left is a secondary crater that was informally called the Cat's Paw during the mission. The area shown is approximately 25 km x 25 km across.
