Reason: The diagramm suggests total melting of the downgoing slab in the shallow mantle which is not supported by seismic data at all! It further seems to suggest that carbonate sediments are lying below rocks of the mid-ocean ridge which doesn’t make sense at all, because the MOR is (mainly) not a depositional feature, but a morphologic expression of the buoyancy of the young (internally) hot oceanic lithosphere!
