Summary

Description
English: Church of St Mary, Cuckney (or Norton Cuckney) Dating from Norman times. The discovery of a mass grave beneath the nave of the church, but thought to pre-date the church, is one of the lines of evidence suggesting that it may be close to the site of the Battle of Heathfield, AD 633, in which Penda of Mercia defeated and killed Edwin of Northumbria http://www.ollertonandvillages.co.uk/heritage_articles/4.htm.
