English: Durham Station, with local train from Newcastle.
View northward, towards Newcastle on the ex-NER ECML, also Sunderland. This train, headed by Gresley V3 (modified V1) 2-6-2T No. 67688, has come from Newcastle, but might well have come from Sunderland having joined the main line two miles back at Newton Hall. Durham station had the luxury of Fast lines in the centre for the ECML trains that did not call there.
