Summary

Description
English: Full frame of photo used in Plate III from Tolchester Folio, Maryland, which has the following caption:
EROSION REMNANTS OF WHITE QUARTZOSE SANDSTONE OF RARITAN FORMATION IN PATAPSCO RIVER OFF ROCK POINT, ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY.
Known as the White Rocks.

The text of the publication states:

The sands (of the Raritan Formation) are, in several places, firmly indurated by iron oxide or silica. The best examples of such sandstones are the White Rocks, near the mouth of Patapsco River (see Pl. III) which furnished Uhler with the name "Albirupean" for this series of strata. These rocks are so firmly cemented with silica as to resemble true quartzite.
