Summary

Description A U.S. Navy McDonnell F4H-1 Phantom II of Fighter Squadron VF-74 Be-Devilers assigned to Carrier Air Group 8 (CVG-8) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal (CVA-59) pictured taking off from an unidentified airfield. On 8 July 1961, VF-74 began transitioning into the airplane, thus becoming the first deployable Phantom squadron in the U.S. Navy.
