Description
Deutsch: Der Hof des Jagdschlosses an einem Herbstnachmittag von Süden mit einem kleinen Früchte tragenden Vogelbeerbaum und Kastanien die anfangen sich zu verfärben. Der Standort des Malers war in der äußersten Südostecke. Die Tür an der Ostseite ist nicht mehr vorhanden, die Pumpe die damals im östlichen Teil stand steht jetzt im westlichen. Die Staffage zeigt passend zum Jagdschloss zwei von Reitknechten gehaltene Pferde von denen die Jäger abgestiegen sind, von denen einer einen Hasen schleppt. Das Format ist für die Zeit ungewöhnlich groß.

Deutsch: Am 30. August 1831 feierte die morganatisch angetraute zweite Gemahlin Friedrich Wilhelms III., Auguste von Harrach/Fürstin Liegnitz im Jagdschloss Grunewald ihren Geburtstag. Dies war möglicherweise der Anlass der Entstehung dieses Bildes im folgenden Jahr. Da der König seiner zweiten Ehe keinen offiziellen Charakter geben wollte, war er auf Aufenthaltsorte angewiesen, wo die in der Hofordnung nach den Prinzessinnen des Königshauses rangierende Fürstin wenigstens als Frau des Königs auftreten konnte und so fanden hier viele Familienfeiern statt.
