English: Halton Castle Gateway The gateway to Halton Castle stands on the site of a former fort on Hadrian's Wall. Hadrians Wall National Trail which runs 135 km from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrianswall/ passes to the right of the gateway. To the left, the post-Roman Military Road (B6318) runs along the line of Hadrian's Wall Hadrians_Wall itself. On the skyline can be seen the remarkable ridges of the Vallum at Downhill NZ0068.
