Description
English: Hampton Waterworks - turbine What a beast! The machine closest to us consists of (from right to left) - A W H Allen tandem compound impulse steam turbine with single flow LP, a reduction gear box, a single stage centrifugal pump, a double stage centrifugal pump and a generator (DC I seem to recall). In the right background is part of a single casing turbine driving pumps only (no generator). Returning to the nearest machine, the plume of gland steam indicates that this is a runner (also the position of the tacho needle)..
