Harry_A_Millis_-_1938-10-29.jpg(309 × 299 pixels, file size: 53 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description
English: Left to right: Dr. Harry A. Millis, Chair, Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. Millis was part of a fact-finding board appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt (pursuant to his powers under the Railway Labor Act) to investigate and make recommendations to the President regarding a major labor dispute. The Chicago Great Western Railroad had demanded a 15 percent wage cut affecting 960,000 workers. The fact-finding board vetoed its request. This photo was taken October 29, 1938, as the board made its report to the President.
