Summary

Description
English: Internal design of the IBM PS/2 Model 70, showing the riser card used to connect the floppy drive and the hard drive.

The riser card contains no chips and plugs straight into the motherboard (or "planar" as IBM liked to call it). All power and data are passed to the drives through the single drive card-edge connector.

The model 70 did allow for a 5.25-inch internal hard drive but provided no way to install or use the new-fangled (at the time) CD-ROM drive.
