Description
Français : Seule miniature connue représentant le procès en nullité de la condamnation de Jeanne d'Arc.
Isabelle Rommée (agenouillée et vêtue de noir) et ses deux fils (figurés comme de jeunes enfants) devant le grand inquisiteur de France, Jean Bréhal (de dos, au premier plan).
Le pape Calixte III figure assis sur le trône pontifical en haut de la composition, à côté d'une représentation (inspiratrice ?) de la Trinité.
Jouant un rôle important durant le procès en nullité de la condamnation de Jeanne d'Arc - procès permis par Calixte III -, Bréhal semble ici acquiescer à la supplique d'Isabelle Rommée et de ses deux fils.
À gauche siègent les commissaires apostoliques nommés par le souverain pontife en vue de mener le procès en nullité.
La miniature orne le Manuscrit de Diane de Poitiers rédigé dans la première moitié du XVIe siècle pour la maîtresse du roi Henri II, ainsi que l'atteste la préface dédicatoire mentionnant le père et le grand-père de Diane. Le manuscrit est actuellement conservé dans une collection privée britannique.
