Summary

Description

A replica of the atom bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, leading to the end of World War 2.

It was powered by Uranium-235 and exploded with an power equivalent to 15,000 tons of TNT.

Since then nuclear bombs have used the more powerful element Plutonium, heralding the Cold War.

This replica was seen at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
