Danska läkemedelsjätten Novo Nordisk har sin största fabrik lokaliserad till Kalundborg (bilden) där bolaget har cirka 3.000 anställda. I mars 2013 meddelade Novo Nordisk att de investerar ytterligare 380 mio. DKK i Kalundborg. Även systerbolaget Novozymes har en stor anläggning i Kalundborg. Den danska industristaden Kalundborg på västra Sjælland med 48.925 invånare den 1 januari 2013. Genom samarbetet Kalundborg Symbiosis är stadens industriföretag med i 35 projekt där de nyttjar varandras restprodukter och dels sparar mellan 600 mio. DKK och en mia. DKK per år, dels minskar miljöbelastningen.
