English: A 1928 Opel RAK2 (“RAK” stands for Rakete, “rocket”) at the “OPEL in Berlin” building, Friedrichstraße. This car, propelled by a rocket engine, reached 238 km/h (148.75 mph) on the AVUS racetrack in Berlin on May 23, 1928. Albeit being built in the Weimar Republic, it bears the flag of the old German Empire, which was still common in more conservative circles.
