Description
English: Map of Asia with Finnish text
Date between 1925 and 1928
date QS:P,+1925-00-00T00:00:00Z/8,P1319,+1925-00-00T00:00:00Z/9,P1326,+1928-00-00T00:00:00Z/9
Source From a 1925 encyclopedia, "Pieni Tietosanakirja", now in the public domain. Scanned in 300 dpi by Lars Aronsson, 2005. This map is also available at https://runeberg.org/pieni/1/0017.html (which explains the somewhat cryptic filename).
Author Pieni Tietosanakirja

In order to make the yellowish paper background appear as white, this image was scanned with high contrast. Input R-G-B pixel values between 0 and 50 were converted to 0 (black), values between 150 and 255 were converted to 255 (white), and values between 50 and 150 were linearly converted to the 0 to 255 range. As a side-effect, most of the light-blue ocean has become near white and the colors of the British (pink) and French (purple) empires have become indistinguishable. Hopefully, people will still remember that India was British and Vietnam was French. The same high contrast was used for the map of Europe.

Public domain This image is in the public domain because the Finnish Copyright law of 2005 specifies that all ”works of art” become public domain 70 years after the death of the creator, or 70 years after the date of publication of an anonymous work if the identity of the author was never disclosed within 70 years from publication.

Note: Photographs which are not considered to be works of art and are created before January 1, 1966 are in the public domain (§49a). See {{PD-Finland50}} for details. This template claims only that the image is public domain in Finland. An additional template should be included to explain why the image is public domain in the United States.
To uploader: If you know, please provide where the image was first published and who created it.
