Notes Another version of the portrait is in the Palace of Holyroodhouse (inv. RCIN 403229). The King was depicted in a silk doublet with a lace-trimmed ruff and the sash of the Order of the Garter (the medallion is not visible in this version). The painting is considered as a contemporary reduction of Van Somer's original of 1618.
