Summary

Description
English: Photo from the exhibition "House of Horror" (Norwegian: Skrekkens hus) in the office building of Regional State Archives (Statsarkivet) in Kristiansand, Norway. The archive is currently the only surviving former Gestapo headquarters in Norway.
  • Reconstruction of the office of German Nazi Rudolf Kerner, local Secret Police leader in Kristiansand in German occupied Norway during the Second World War 1940–45:
    • Framed wall poster with portrait painting of Adolf Hitler by Heinrich Knirr
    • Mannequin dressed in uniform of the SS (Scutzstaffel) with rank insignia of SS-Hauptsturmführer
      • The majority of SS personnel wore a variation of the Waffen-SS uniform or the grey-green SS service tunic. Branches with personnel that normally would wear civilian attire in the Reich (such as the Gestapo and Kripo) were issued grey-green SS uniforms in occupied territory to avoid being mistaken for civilians.
    • Office furniture and desk with typewriter, stationary, desk lamp, desk banner with SS "lightening bolts" Siegrunen emblem, SS visor cap without insignia, telephone, etc.
    • German WW2 MP40 submachine gun and ammunition magazine pouches
    • Wall clock
etc.
