Summary

Description
English: On 9 April 1942, the Women Auxiliary Corps (India) was established. As heavy burden came on RIN signal organisation, it was beneficial to recruit English-speaking women to take over war time duties. Subsequently, the naval wing of the Women Auxiliary Corps was established in 1944. These women were trained and employed as tele-prompters, typists, telephonists, loggers, filers, message checkers, duty distribution officers and clerks in cypher offices throughout the country. Their services during the war were recognised by their contingent being included in Victory Parade which was held at Delhi on 07 March 1946 and also in Navy Day Parade at Bombay. All women in royal service were later released by February 1947.
