Summary

Description
English: When wingless signaling is activated wnt binds to a complex which inhibits the destruction complex. This results in the accumulation of beta catenin. When this occurs, beta catenin enters the nucleus and binds to the TCF promoter, recruiting other coactivators and this triggers gene expression of target genes. When wnt signaling is not active, the destruction complex breaks down beta catenin. As a result, beta catenin is not able to enter the nucleus and bind to promote gene expression.
