Summary

Description
English: Up Permanent Way stone train at York Yard South.

View NW, towards York Yard North and Skelton Junction; ex-North Eastern York Yard avoiding lines, East Coast Main Line. The Goods lines by-pass to the west York's main passenger station by a direct route from Holgate Junction to Skelton Junction, flanked by the main York Marshalling Yards. This train of rail ballast (headed by ex-War Department 2-8-0 No. 90424) is coming out southward from York Down Yard, the photograph being taken from a long footbridge off Wilton Street. The photograph is actually taken from Landing Lane bridge the ballest train is departing York Down Departure Lines (YDDLs) so the location is York Yard North not York Yard South, the loco is just about to pass York Yard North Signalbox and under Landing Lane Bridge I was a releif signalman in this area for a numeber of years York yard North and South being on my roster

This picture is leaving York Down departure Lines at York Yard North not York Yard South and the picture is taken off Landing Lane Bridge road bridge. In the back groung is British Sugar Corp. under the bridge where the photograph is York Yard North Signal Box
