The street names are not legible[edit]

I understand that the notice about "public domain" might be in reference to this particular digitized copy of the original map. However (I could be wrong!) the original map (the "ink on paper" version) (having a high enough precision or "resolution", to allow the street names to be legible!) might also be "public domain" -- by now. (Is it?) IMHO this map is now a "historical" map.

Could a higher "resolution" version of this old map be found [or created] (e.g., by scanning an "ink on paper" version) and used instead? IMHO, this map (or, any street map) would be more useful (/slash, more "interesting") if the street names were legible.
