This illustration looks quite nice, but I have truly serious doubts about the technical accuracy of the description. First, it needs to be made clear that the center, double-sided plate is splined to the driveshaft (afaik!). Second, afaik, there's a strong spring that compresses things together (normal engagement). Third, the description seems to be quite incorrect. This really, seriously needs to be vetted by a competent car mechanic. I'm trying to avoid being too negative... (What are the "rings" that are referred to? That looks like fantasy; sorry!) I'm not well-acquainted with cars, so I can't really say exactly what's wrong in detail.
