Palestine ?

Using wikipedia for political propaganda again ?

I'm sickened.

"Palestine is one of several names for the geographic region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River."

Sure doesn't sound like "political propaganda" to me. --334 00:56, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The name "Palestine" was not used by the Romans before Hadrian (135 BCE). However, the map in question mentions the kingdom of Phoenecia which according to the wiki existed: "between the period of 1200 BC to 900 BC". Palestine... named by Hardian 135 BC... oi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.237.156.227 (talk) 04:26, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If any name is going to be mentioned for the area, it should be the chronologically accurate "Canaan". Tomertalk 23:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the use of the term 'Palestine' here is historically inaccurate and may be motivated by political POV. It should be replaced with either regional names from that period or the names of the actual kingdoms then present. 141.166.230.45 (talk) 06:13, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Besides Canaan, Judah would be appropriate label, since the Kingdom of Judah (the 'Southern kingdom') existed until 586 BC. This map is supposed to represent 650 BC. Thus, it would be appropriate to label Judah, remove the Palestine label, and then simply not add another label for the rest of the Levant, which in any event was ruled by Assyria in 650. 141.166.230.45 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:23, 30 March 2009 (UTC).[reply]
