Ghumman is a Chandravanshi Rajput clan of Janjua Rajput lineage in Punjab that claims Lunar origin by direct descent from Raja Sanpal Janjua of Janjua Rajput ancestry. It is said that Raja Sanpal Janjua (the younger son of Raja Jodh, the conqueror of Makhiala. Raja Jodh was the son of Raja Mal, the ruler of Malot Fort in Chakwal, originally hailing from Raja Dalip Singh of Delhi) married many wives and had many sons, who founded various sub tribes and clans of jats & rajput. Raja Sanpal's youngest son, Raja Ghumman Singh, took service in Jammu during the rule of Sultan Firuz Shah of Delhi, founded Ghumman Clain which has 21 sub-divisions, each representing an alleged son of Sanpal. In another story, it is said that Ghumman Rajputs took up agriculture and left the ancestral old age warrior profession and turn to the cultivation for their survival. Since that time Rajputs who took up agriculture are styled Ghumman Jats. Janjua Rajputs are historically considered the Royal warriors of India. Members of this tribe are well known for their unflinching readiness for martyrdom and bravery in war. The Ghummans Jats & Rajputs are respect bravery and truth more than life. Much of the respect and admiration they receive is because of their unflinching readiness to sacrifice their own life in order to honor these values. Khakha, Ghumman, Jatal, Ranial Rajputs, Dhamial (Jat), Gaharwal Rajputs are offshoot of Janjua Rajputs.
