He started his youth career at Al Ahly in 1997, but moved to the Italian club A.S. Bari the following year, where he played for 3 seasons in Serie A.

Hany moved after 5 years with Bari to Messina where they gained promotion to Serie A, after that he moved to Fiorentina where he could not find his place, he then joined the Belgian second division club Mons, but due to his injury troubles he returned to Egypt to Ismaily in July 2007.
