Ian Moore (born August 8, 1968 in Berkeley, California, USA) is a guitarist and singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas. He studied violin as a child but later switched to guitar. His music contains elements of folk, rock and roll, world music and blues. After playing guitar in Joe Ely's touring band and appearing on one studio album, he spent time in Austin with his own groups, first Ian Moore and Moment's Notice, then The Ian Moore Band. While attending The University of Texas at Austin Moore played in Austin regularly developing a small following. This led to his debut album which was released on the short lived the revival of Capricorn Records in 1993. Despite generally good reviews The album did poorly commercially and Moore remained a regional club act in Texas. Two more releases on Capricorn failed to connect to a wider audience before Moore was eventually dropped from the struggling label. Moore has continued to tour sporadically and released several more independent releases and is still active on the bar scene in the Southwest with his group The Lossy Coils.
