English: Rug from Qom, Iran. Design LACHAK and TORANJ. It is called Toranj in Persian, and Medallion in English.
The design, which is called Lachak Toranj is arranged to put the Toranj in the center and Lachak (a quarter of Toranj) in the four corners, is a traditional design to be used for the binding of Koran.

This is not a Qum. Qum has the finest rugs ever made. They are all or predominately silk with at least 400 knots per square inch. The design also is not Qum, this is a Kashan or Mashad design and just by looking at it this is a commercial rug, made to be sold in the western market, around 120 knots per square inch. If you ever see a Qum you will never forget it.
