Description Reverse of a Medal of Honor awarded posthumously to Chief Water Tender Peter Tomich for "extraordinary courage and disregard of his own safety" as USS Utah (AG-16) was sinking during the attack on Pearl Harbor, 7 December 1941. The text reads:

FOR DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT
IN THE LINE OF HIS
PROFESSION ON OCCASION
JAPANESE ATTACK ON
PEARL HARBOR,
