Note: This memorial stone is the second and original Titanic memorial in Southampton, erected on the site of the Central City Library. However, this one is a replica. The original was destroyed by the Luftwaffe in 1940 together with the library on this site. Most people associate the Titanic memorial with the other, larger one to the Titanic engineer officers; and that usually gets most attention. Few people know that this smaller one exists. This replica was erected 1990 when the bombsite was finally cleared and rebuilt
