Jan Hofer (born 31 January 1952 in Büderich) is a German journalist, broadcast news analyst and television presenter.

Life

From 1970 to 1974 Hofer studied Business economics in Cologne. Hofer has been the German commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest. Hofer works as the main anchor in TV news programme Tagesschau on German television broadcaster ARD. From 1989 to 1991 Hofer was the host of NDR Talk Show. Since 1992 Hofer is the host of another talk show Riverboat on German broadcaster MDR. Hofer has three children. His original Name is Johannes Neuenhofer.
