Jordan Tyler Graham (born 5 March 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays for League One club Gillingham. Graham has represented both England and the Republic of Ireland at youth level. He is a product of the Aston Villa Academy, having spent 12 years there as a junior.
Career
Graham is a product of the Aston Villa youth academy and was a member of their NextGen Series winning side in the 2012–13 season.[3] He signed a professional contract with Villa in March 2012.[4]
In November, he joined Ipswich Town on loan, where he made his professional debut on 7 December 2013 in a 2–1 win over Huddersfield Town.[5] Graham also made an appearance in the victory over Doncaster Rovers before he returned to Villa at the end of December 2013.[6]
On 10 January 2014, he joined League One side Bradford City on a one-month loan deal,[7] for whom he made one appearance: against his future club Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 February 2014.[8]
The winger joined Wolverhampton Wanderers, now returned to the Championship, in November 2014 on loan until the January transfer window.[9] Injury prevented him from making any appearances during this loan period,[10] but he signed a permanent 18-month deal with the club on 5 January 2015 for an undisclosed fee.[11]
After failing to make a first-team appearance for Wolves, he was sent on a month-long loan to League Two side Oxford United in September 2015.[12] Following a successful initial month, his loan was extended by two months,[13] but a few days later he was recalled by Wolves after an injury crisis at his parent club.[14]
Graham scored his first goal in his club career for Wolverhampton Wanderers on 28 December 2015 in the 52nd minute of a Championship game against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.[15] He suffered torn knee ligaments during a game against Cardiff City on 16 January 2016. Despite this, Graham extended his contract with Wolves until the end of the 2017–18 season, with the club having the option of two additional years.[16] The initial prognosis of his injury was that he was expected to be missing from action for between nine and 12 months,[17] but after suffering several setbacks during his recovery, he did not return to first-team football until 15 months later, on 25 April 2017, in a 1–0 defeat against Huddersfield at Molineux.[18]
On 31 August 2017, he joined Championship rivals Fulham on loan until the end of the season.[19] On 15 January 2018, after making just three league appearances, Graham returned to Wolves.[20]
On 28 August 2018, Graham signed for Ipswich Town on a season-long loan.[21] After Paul Lambert replaced Paul Hurst as Ipswich manager, Graham began training with Oxford United, with a view to an official loan in January,[22] which was confirmed in December 2018.[23] He scored his first Oxford goal, and the second League goal of his career, with a well-taken free kick in a surprise away victory over Blackpool on 23 February 2019.[24]
Graham was supposedly loaned out again for the 2019–20 season to Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv with fellow Wolves player Sylvain Deslandes on a season-long loan.[25] However it was announced that both Deslandes' and Graham's loan spell did not go through due to an issue with FIFA clearance. Graham then surprised Wolves fans, as he then made an appearance for Wolves U21 in the EFL Trophy game against Blackpool, which ended in a 1–0 defeat.[26]
On 31 January 2020, Graham signed for League One club Gillingham on a six-month loan.[27] Graham only made seven league appearances for the club, however, as the league was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequently abandoned, meaning that no more games were played and Graham returned to his parent club. On 18 May 2020, Graham left Wolves.[28]
He signed for Gillingham permanently on 12 August 2020.[29]
International career
Graham has played for the England U16 side, being part of the squad that retained the 2010–11 Victory Shield.[30] He has also represented the England U17 side, playing in and winning the 2012 Algarve Tournament.[31] Graham also represented the Republic of Ireland national football team at under-15 level in the 2010 Tri-Nations tournament, scoring twice against Northern Ireland U15s.[32]
