List of killings by law enforcement officers in the United States, 2012

In the table below are links to lists of people killed by non-military law enforcement officers in 2012, whether in the line of duty or not, and regardless of reason or method. The listing documents the occurrence of a death, making no implications regarding either wrongdoing or justification on the part of the person killed or the officer involved. Killings are arranged by date of incident which caused death. Different death dates are, if known, noted in the description.

The lists below are incomplete; the annual average number of justifiable homicides alone is estimated to be near 400.[1]

2012-12-17 Mack, Derek (18) New Jersey (Atlantic City) Mack was shot by Atlantic City Police Officer John L. Smith after he turned toward the officer while armed with a handgun.[2][3]
