Early Life

Louise Henry was born on June 14, 1911 in Syracuse, New York.

Hollywood Years

Her first film role came in 1934 in the motion picture Paris Interlude. During the course of her short yet memorable career she often specialized in playing gold diggers, dumb blondes, telephone operators, secretaries, unfaithful wives, and torch singers. She was primarily employed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios [2] during this time. In her career, she starred opposite such performers as Robert Montgomery, Constance Cummings, Robert Young, Billie Burke, Robert Taylor, Virginia Bruce, Spencer Tracy, James Stewart, Joan Crawford, Franchot Tone, Rosalind Russell, Donald Cook, Alison Skipworth, William Powell, Jean Harlow, Clark Gable, and Paul Lukas.[3]

Despite her acting abilites and stunning good looks she was almost always cast in supporting roles. In 1935, she lent her help to the script formation of the film Remember Last Night? in which she played the role of a wife suspected of murdering an old friend at a week-long houseparty. Her assistance with the writing of the script was not mentioned in the film credits. As of today she is the last surviving cast member of that film.[4]

Later Life

In 1939, she made her last screen apperance in Charlie Chan in Reno; upon the film's completion she decided that she had her time in the spotlight and chose not to renew her contract with MGM. She never married or had children.

She did, however, keep in touch with a large amount of her famous friends from the Hollywood years until their deaths; they included William Demarest, Jane Withers, Sterling Holloway, Virginia Bruce, James Stewart, Frances Langford, Leon Ames, Dennis Morgan, Ruth Donnelly, and Remember Last Night? co-stars Constance Cummings and Robert Young.
