Woodland was born in Abu Dhabi, his father is English and his mother Filipino and he holds dual nationality.[1]

Career

Bolton Wanderers

Woodland joined Bolton Wanderers at 8 years. He progressed through the ranks earning Player of the Year on two occasions. Woodland was given a football scholarship at 15 years old and a two-year professional contract at 17 years old in 2013.[2] He made no first team appearance to date, although Woodland was given forty-two shirt.[3]

Oldham Athletic

Woodland was signed on loan by Oldham Athletic on 13 March 2015 on a one-month loan.[4] He made his debut the following day, playing the whole game, in a 1-3 home defeat against Barnsley.[5] His fourth appearance at Oldham Athletic against Rochdale on 25 March 2015 saw him earn 'Man of the Match'.[6] After extending his loan spell until the end of the season,[7] the club was keen to sign him permanently.[8][9][10]

After his loan spell at Oldham Athletic came to an end, Woodland was released by Bolton Wanderers, ending his twelve years association with the club.[11] After leaving Bolton Wanderers, Woodland went on trial at Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.[12]

Chester and Bradford Park Avenue

Woodland signed for Chester on non-contract basis in October 2015.[13] Woodland made his Chester debut on 21 November 2015, coming on as a substitute for John Rooney in the 75th minutes, in a 2-1 loss against Woking.[14] After making one appearance, Woodland was released by the club.[15]

On March 25, 2016, Woodland was signed for Bradford Park Avenue by club manager Darren Edmondson.[1] Woodland made his Bradford Park Avenue debut, in a 3-0 loss against Boston United on 9 April 2016 and went on to make seven appearance for the club.[16]

Oldham Athletic

On 11 July 2016, Woodland re-joined Oldham Athletic for the second time, signing a six-month contract until December.[17] Upon joining the club, Woodland was given a number twenty-two shirt.[18]

International career

Between 2010 and 2012, Woodland was selected for England at youth level, playing 11 games for the U-16, U-17 & U-18 English representative teams.[19][20]

In March 2015, the Philippine Football Federation invited him to join the Philippines national senior team training camp from the 23rd to the 30th of that month in Bahrain.[21] However, he did not attend due to club commitments. Two months later, he was named in the Philippines' 23-man squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Bahrain and Yemen on 11 and 16 June respectively.[22] Woodland missed the game against Bahrain due to delays in gaining international clearance,[23] but made his debut against Yemen on 16 June 2015.[24]
